?PLEASE DO NOT BID IF YOU HAVE NOT READ THIS DESCRIPTION IN FULL ?
We have a flock of 8 French Black Copper Marans that we treat as family. They are pasture raised year round and the most friendly chickens we own. They are spoiled, fed treats daily.
They have been laying continuously for 6 months now, through the winter. ?You can expect the eggs delivered to be about 3/4 as dark as when their yearly cycle starts as mentioned below. ?
Our hatch rate using the Maticoopx 30 Egg Incubator is 90%+
The latest pictures of the eggs are in the snow and the hen box, taken a week ago.
Eggs will be shipped in protective foam and shipped priority mail.
Do NOT use cheap incubators! You HAVE to use highly rated ones or you will not be able to achieve a great hatch rate.

EGG COLOR…… a highly discussed topic amongst breeders, hobbiest and farms alike.
I want to talk about when eggs are darker, and what to expect when you receive eggs from us (Meehan Farm).
— Egg color - darker at beginning of laying cycle also know as “pullet eggs” they are smaller not yet full size, therefore less surface area for ink = darker egg.
— Egg Color = “Darker” in the first laying season
— Egg Color = “Lightens” the longer and more often a hen lays = more daylight hours = more eggs laid = lighter egg color.
— Egg color is held “Longer” — some hens vs others
— Egg color has to be “Selectively bred for” — or it can be easily diminished in just 1 generation
— Egg color is “Replenished” — during periods of rest (not laying) example: Broody Hens, Stress, Winter etc when a hen stops laying her eggs after periods of rest will be darker. We don’t use lights.
Think of Egg Color like ink in a printer, over time the cartridges need to be replaced…. Resting (not laying) refills the ink cartridges essentially.
I appreciate all of our customers and look forward to working with new ones!!
